Can I Use Ground Turkey To Replace Beef
Go right ahead and swap out the meat for whatever meat you prefer. We love ground beef sloppy joe. But you can always replace the meat to fit what you like.
Can I Use Canned Sloppy Joe Mix
Make this dinner even easier and use a canned sloppy joe mix if you want. I personally love homemade cause it is so simple and we have all the ingredients on hand.
But reach for any of your favorite sloppy joe mixtures to use for these sloppy joe biscuits.
What Are The Best Biscuits To Use
I just used the classic buttermilk biscuits. You will find if you buy a pull-apart biscuit it will not shape the way you hope it would.
The biscuits with butter pieces in it will also affect the outcome of how it bakes. For this, I recommend just the classic plain old Pillsbury biscuits.
Can I Use Bread Dough Instead of Biscuits
If you don’t want to use biscuits you can of course use bread dough. You can use homemade bread dough or buy frozen bread dough you allow to thaw and rise. Then cut into pieces and shape into muffin tin. Just remember the dough will rise a bit.
The cook time can vary slightly since you are using bread dough over the biscuit. But the flavor will taste just as good so feel free to use what you prefer.
Tips:
- Some people prefer to add the cheese after the cups have baked. They sprinkle the hot cups with cheese and it melts immediately.
- The cornbread muffins make this a little bit sweet but it’s delicious. If you prefer it regularly, use any kind of biscuits you like.
Storage:
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
What To Serve With These For Dinner
- French Fries
- Chips
- Cucumber and Onions
- Potato salad
- Fresh Veggies
- Etc
