Patriotic Pretzel Bites
These Patriotic Pretzel Bites are one of my favorite kinds of holiday treats to make. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you already know I absolutely love holiday recipes. Whether it’s Christmas, Halloween, Easter, or the 4th of July, I am always looking for easy treats that look festive without requiring a lot of work.

Patriotic Pretzel Bites
These patriotic pretzel bites are exactly that kind of recipe. They take just a handful of ingredients, come together quickly, and always disappear fast whenever I put them out for a party. The sweet and salty combination of pretzels, candy melts, and M&M’s is one that both kids and adults love.
One of my favorite things about these little treats is how easy they are to customize. You can make them for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, or even swap the colors for other holidays throughout the year. They look adorable on a dessert tray next to your favorite patriotic treats and require almost no baking experience to pull off.

How to Make 4th of July Pretzel Bites
- Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line a 9×13 baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the pretzel snaps in a single layer, leaving a little space between each one.
- Place one candy melt on top of each pretzel until all the pretzels are covered.
- Bake for 5 minutes, or until the candy melts are soft. Keep in mind that candy melts may not visibly change shape even when softened.
- Remove the pan from the oven.
- Place one M&M on top of each candy melt and gently press it down until it slightly sinks into the softened chocolate.
- Alternate colors as you go and avoid matching the M&M color to the candy melt underneath for a more festive look.
- Allow the pretzel bites to rest for about 30 minutes, or until fully set.
- Serve and enjoy.

Tips & Tricks
- I used dark blue candy melts, but any shade of blue works perfectly.
- Candy melt sizes can vary slightly by brand, but they should all fit nicely on pretzel snaps.
- If your M&M’s don’t press easily into the candy melts, the chocolate likely needs another minute in the oven.
- Older candy melts can sometimes crack more easily when pressed.
- Let the treats set completely before stacking or storing.
- These are a great recipe to make with kids since there’s very little hands-on baking involved.
Storage
Store your pretzel bites in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 1 week.
Avoid storing them in the refrigerator or freezer, as condensation can affect the texture and appearance of the candy coating.

Ingredients
- 60 Pretzel Snaps
- 20 White Candy Melts
- 20 Blue Candy Melts
- 20 Red Candy Melts
- 60 Red, White, and Blue M&M’s
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line a 9x13 baking sheet with parchment paper and line the pretzels up on the pan, in one layer, leaving just a bit of room in between them.
- Put one candy melt on each pretzel until all the pretzels are full.
- Bake for 5 minutes or until the candy melts are soft. They will not change shape even if they’re soft, so don’t base it on just how they look.
- Place an M&M on top of each candy melt and gently push until the candy slightly sinks into the chocolate. Be sure to alternate colors and avoid using the same color M&M with the same color candy melt.
- Once you’ve placed all the M&M’s, allow the pretzel bites to rest for 30 minutes or until set. Enjoy!
Notes
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry area for up to 1 week. Do not store in the fridge or freezer as moisture can ruin them.
- I used dark blue candy melts, but you can use whatever shade you have on hand.
- Candy melts, depending on the brand, can vary in size, but all of them should fit a pretzel snap without issue.
- If it’s not easy to lightly push the M&M into a candy melt or the candy melt cracks, the pretzels either need to be cooked longer, or the candy melts were older.
