The warm weather is coming and I couldn’t be more excited! In fact, it is my favorite time of year to start making all my favorite salads like our famous Bacon Cucumber Tomato Salad, Tomato Watermelon salad, and this super impressive Layered Salad with Berries.

 How to make Layered Salad with Berries

  • In a trifle bowl, layer half of the salad in the order of the ingredients listed, pressing down to fit all of the ingredients in the bowl. Repeat to create a second layer.

  • In a mixing bowl or mason jar, stir together the salad dressing.

  • Pour the dressing over the salad before tossing or serve on the side.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Be sure to not add the dressing too soon. By doing this your salad will become soggy. 
  • Pecans are a welcome addition to this salad, but you can swap them out if you choose for another nut or leave them off completely if there is a nut allergy. 
  • You can easily swap out the nuts for sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. 
  • If you really want to add another layer of flavor to this salad use these delicious candied pecans
  • This salad is totally customizable based on your preferences. Feel free to omit vegetables or add in extra vegetables. 
  • Try different cheeses! This recipe calls for blue cheese, but you can swap it out for Feta cheese if you want a different flavor.

Storage

Unfortunately, salads do not store well after they have the dressing on them. If you know you are going to have leftovers I recommend only dressing part of the salad so you can store the rest. You can store salad for up to 2 days in an airtight container in the fridge. 

Make Ahead

Because of the beautiful presentation, you might not want to make this salad right before dinner. If this is the case, you can easily make this salad a couple of hours ahead of time and cover and place it in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

Layered Salad with Berries

This Layered Salad with Berries is so simple to make as it combines lettuce, strawberries, blueberries, blue cheese, onions, and toasted pecans that is then topped with the most amazing dressing. This will soon become your go-to salad for every occasion. 

Ingredients

  • 3 stalks of romaine lettuce, washed and torn into pieces
  • 1 to 2 pounds strawberries, washed and sliced
  • 18 ounces blueberries
  • 1 to 1 ½ cups toasted pecans
  • ½ cup sliced red onion
  • 5 ounces crumbled blue cheese
  • For the dressing:
  • 3 tablespoons buttermilk
  • ¾ to 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon low carb sweetener or sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions
