How to Make Baked Feta Pasta
- To prepare this delicious baked feta pasta, we will start by washing and drying our tomatoes.
- Now, we will preheat the oven to 400°.
- Take a large ovenproof skillet or a baking dish and gently oil all the surfaces.
- Next, we will take a baking dish and gently oil all the surfaces. Place the feta cheese in the middle and surround the feta rectangle with the tomatoes.
- Sprinkle some oregano, freshly ground pepper, and chili flakes, and finish by pouring olive oil all over the tomatoes. Bake for 30 minutes or until the tomatoes look roasted.
- Raise the oven temperature to 450 degrees and cook for another 10-15 minutes. Just long enough for your feta cheese to darken.
- In the meantime, take a pot and fill it with water. Dissolve two spoons of salt and bring it to a boil. Once it’s boiling, we will add the pasta of our preference and wait the specified time in the package.
- Now, take the baked feta & tomatoes and mix them, making sure you smash the feta & tomatoes with the help of a fork. Mix until it’s getting smooth and creamy.
- To finish, add the cooked pasta, and some basil leaves and toss until well coated. If your sauce is too thick add a bit of the pasta water to loosen.
- Top with more fresh basil leaves and serve. Enjoy!
Tips Tricks and FAQs
* While you may find some recipes that say you need to change the temperature of the oven when making this dish, you can absolutely keep it baking at 400 degrees Fahrenheit the whole time.
* Add chili flakes or red pepper flakes to add a little spice to the dish! Add as many or as little as you like.
* Feel free to add other ingredients as well. I love adding whole cloves of garlic to this dish before baking.
* When mixing your pasta and sauce together add a scoop of pasta water (about ½ cup). This helps not only stretch the sauce but also helps the sauce stick to the noodles better.
* If your tomatoes are not blistered enough, you can broil them for 2 minutes, but be sure to keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
* You do not want to use canned tomatoes. Be sure you are using fresh ingredients especially when it comes to tomatoes.
Storage
You will want to store your leftover baked feta pasta in the fridge in an airtight container. This will last for 2-3 days.
