What Fruit To Use In Sangria
When making sangria you will find that you can use almost any type of fruit you have on hand or enjoy. Personally, I reached for blueberries, strawberries, peach slices, kiwi, and even some raspberries.
The fruit will add lots of color and flavor to your sangria.
Can I Replace Peach Schnapps In Recipe
If you don’t have peach schnapps feel free to replace with a peach liqueur that you would like. Or if you can’t find that. A fruit flavored liqueur could be swapped in to replace.
Ingredients
- 1 Bottle White Wine
- 1/2 Cup Simple Syrup
- 3/4 Cup Peach Schnapps*
- Variety of fruit (ex: sliced peaches, sliced kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, lemon slices, orange slices, lime slices, etc
How To Make
Step 1: Start by prepping all your fruit. Washing, peeling and slicing. Pour your fruit that you prepped and cleaned into a pitcher.
Step 2: Now you will pour in your wine and peach schnapps. Give the mixture a stir, and place in the fridge.
Step 3: When ready to serve pour some ice into a glass, pour your sangria, and then top with some fresh fruit if you want!
Tips & Tricks
- Choose the Right Wine: Select a crisp, fruity white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio. These wines provide a refreshing base that complements the fruit and sweeteners. Avoid overly oaky or heavy wines, as they can overpower the flavors.
- Prep Ahead: For the best flavor, prepare your sangria a few hours in advance or even the day before. This allows the flavors to meld and the fruit to infuse the wine. Just remember to keep it refrigerated!
- Customize Your Fruit: While the recipe suggests certain fruits, feel free to get creative! Use seasonal fruits or whatever you have on hand. Berries, citrus, and stone fruits work particularly well, but you can also experiment with options like pineapple or mango for a tropical twist.
- Adjust the Sweetness: If you prefer a less sweet sangria, reduce the amount of simple syrup or use a sugar substitute. You can also try using a drier white wine or adding extra citrus slices for a tangy kick.
- Add Bubbles: For a fizzy touch, consider adding a splash of club soda or lemon-lime soda just before serving. This gives your sangria a delightful effervescence and a refreshing finish.
- Presentation Matters: Serve your sangria in a large pitcher or a fun drink dispenser. Garnish each glass with fresh fruit slices and a sprig of mint for an appealing presentation. This will not only enhance the visual appeal but also elevate the drinking experience.
- Leftovers: If you have leftover sangria, it can still be enjoyed! Just be aware that the fruit will continue to soak in the wine, so it may become softer. Strain the sangria before serving to remove any mushy fruit if desired.
