What Is Sausage Pie
Sausage pie is a pie that is filled with cheese, egg, and sausage. Mix it up and pour the mix into a pie crust and bake.
Slice and serve! This recipe is so good. Kind of similar to a frittata in a sense.
How to Make
Step 1: Preheat the oven, prep the pie crust if making homemade. Then in a skillet on the stove cook your sausage to crumbles and no longer pink.
Step 2: Once the sausage is fully cooked, drain excess grease. Now pour the sausage into the pie pan with pre cooked crust and make sure the meat is even.
Step 3: Now in a small bowl whisk eggs, heavy cream, cheese and seasoning. Mix well then pour into pie crust.
Step 4: Then pour egg mixture into the pie pan and cook until it is fully cooked.
How to Know When It’s Done
The easiest way to tell if this pie is fully cooked is to check with a toothpick.
Place a toothpick in the center of the pie. Then if it comes out clean with no runny egg you are done.
You can gently touch the top and if it bounces back your done. Otherwise, it will feel really soft.
Can I Use Italian Sausage For Breakfast Sausage
Use Italian or breakfast sauce for this pie. You can pick what your preference is. Then cut off casings and then cook up your pork.
Just know that if you swap sausage it will vary your recipe.
Replacement for Provolone Cheese
We tend to enjoy provolone or mozzarella with this recipe. But feel free to buy and use your favorite cheese.
I have found that shredding your own cheese really helps to make the flavors more vivid the more you eat them.

Homemade Crust Vs Store Bought
Homemade crust can homely add more flavor to your recipe. But, store bought works just as good.
I like to reach for refrigerated dough where you roll it out and slice and serve. Where a frozen crust you just pulled out, pour and bake.
Storing Leftovers
Store leftover sausage pie in the fridge in an airtight container. This pie will store for up to 3 days.
To reheat, toss a slice in the microwave, have a picnic at the table, or even reheat in the oven.
If you bought bulk breakfast sausage, make these sausage balls with your leftover sausage, they are delicious!
