Is This Almond Milk Flavored

This recipe is for an unsweetened almond milk. You can actually sweeten it if you prefer added flavor to the nut milk. 

Way To Flavor Homemade Almond Milk 

Go in and add 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, and 1 tablespoon vanilla and blend in as you do the blender part of the recipe. Or opt to add two pitted dates and blend. 

This will sweeten and cream up your almond milk a lot! 

 

What Does Almond Milk Taste Like

Almond milk of course is going to give you a nutty taste that is mild. It is going to have similar texture to regular milk. It is a great alternative to have or if you are looking for a nut milk to incorporate in diet.

What Type of Almonds Do You Use For Almond Milk

You will want to use raw almonds. You can find these at most grocery stores with no problem. Just make sure they are raw and not like salted or roasted almonds.

You will cook your almonds for 4 minutes in the pressure cooker followed by a quick release. Now take into consideration you need to factor your pot coming to pressure.

Why Do You Remove Peels On Almonds For Almond Milk

Removing the peels doesn’t take a ton of time but it is a step you can’t skip over. Peeling your almonds will give you that silky smooth milk. Without peeling you would have skins floating all over in your milk, which would be less appealing. I easily removed mine while rinsing under cold water, after cooking.  

 

Does It Matter What Type Of Water To Blend With 

Yes it does. You don’t want to use say tap water on this. It will affect the flavor, so reach for a spring water. This will help add a pure and fresh taste to your dairy free milk.

How Long Can You Store Homemade Almond Milk 

Store your almond milk in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Because there are not preservatives you won’t get the long shelf line dates as store bought. 

 

You can also freeze any milk in a container or sealable bag. Just ensure you leave room for it to expand. Store in freezer for up to 3 months.

    1. Add 1 cup of water (tap okay) & almonds
    2. Close your lid and set to sealing.
    3. Set your pot to manual high pressure for 4 minutes. Once cooking cycle completes do a quick release.
    4. Drain almonds and rinse under cool water while removing skins. They will peel off pretty easily while running under water.
    5. Pour peeled almonds and 4 cups of spring water into a strong powered blender.
    6. Blend for a full 4 minutes using the highest speed
    7. Strain using a nut milk bag or cheesecloth. Give it a few real good squeezes at the end to ensure you are getting all of the milk.

Notes
