Tips & Tricks

  • Hot Glue Gun Tips: When using a hot glue gun, be sure to work quickly but carefully. A good trick is to apply glue in small sections so it doesn’t dry too fast. Also, use a low-temperature glue gun if you’re working with kids to avoid burns.
  • Candy Cane Positioning: If you want to give your sleigh a sturdier base, you can slightly bend the candy canes where they meet the sticker box to form a more stable “sleigh” shape. This can help ensure it stands up well and doesn’t tip over easily.
  • Use a Variety of Candy: While this recipe calls for Hershey’s Gold bars and chocolate-covered marshmallows, feel free to swap in other festive candies, such as chocolate Santas, peanut butter cups, or small candy bars. Personalizing the sleigh with your favorite treats makes it even more special!
  • Assembly Line Style: If you’re making multiple sleighs, set up an assembly line. Glue the candy canes to the boxes first, then move on to adding the Hershey bars, pencil sharpeners, and marshmallow treats. It will make the process much quicker and more efficient.
  • Decoration: Add extra festive touches like sprinkles of edible glitter, small bows, or even tiny tags that say “Merry Christmas” to make each sleigh unique and extra charming.
  • Storing: If you’re not giving these out right away, store your completed sleighs in an airtight container to keep the candy fresh. Keep them in a cool, dry place to prevent the candies from melting or becoming sticky.

FAQs

Absolutely! Feel free to substitute the Hershey’s Gold bars, marshmallow reindeer treats, and pencil sharpeners with other festive treats like chocolate Santas, small candy bars, or even candy canes with little ornaments attached. Get creative with whatever you find!

While a hot glue gun is the easiest way to assemble these candy sleighs, you can use craft glue or double-sided tape as an alternative. However, they may not be as sturdy, especially if you plan on handling them a lot.

No worries! You can substitute many of the items for similar treats or decorations you have on hand. The beauty of this project is its flexibility—just use what works for you!
