Suff19-Day3

This week marks the beginning of the Focus Features special initiative, “19 Days of Suffrage,” to celebrate the powerful film Suffragette, as it releases in theaters nationwide through Thanksgiving. These 19 Days are in honor of the 19th Amendment, which granted women in the United States the right to vote in 1919.

Every week in November I will be providing new clips from the film, interesting historical facts, and suggested topics to spark conversation about being a woman in the world today, the challenges we face, and the fights we’ve won.

With Election Day being this week, we thought it would be the perfect time to engage in conversations about The Right to Vote and what it means to you, thoughts on Women in Government – do you remember the first time you voted? There’s a special video below called #MyFirstTime where celebs such as the Suffragette filmmakers and star Carey Mulligan, Kathy Baker (The Age Of Adaline, Edward Scissorhands), Trieste Kelly Dunn (“The Good Wife,” “Banshee”), Rosanna Scotto (WNYW Anchor), and more recall the first time they ever voted.
