If you love a dinner that requires almost no prep but still looks and tastes amazing, you need to try this Boursin Orzo Sausage Bake. Everything goes right into one baking dish — uncooked orzo, Polska kielbasa, cherry tomatoes, spinach, Boursin cheese, and chicken broth — and the oven does the rest.
Boursin Orzo Sausage Bake
I originally saw this recipe from @cookingwithmrsrachel on TikTok and knew immediately that I wanted to try it. Her version uses Italian chicken sausage, and it looked so easy and delicious.
For my version, I used Polska kielbasa instead of chicken sausage and simplified the seasonings to Slap Ya Mama seasoning and garlic powder. The smoky kielbasa was absolutely delicious with the creamy Boursin and made this an incredibly easy dinner that I’d definitely make again.
There was no boiling the orzo, no browning the sausage, and no separate sauce to make. Everything cooked together in one pan, and the combination of the red tomatoes, green spinach, sliced kielbasa, and creamy orzo made the finished dish look just as good as it tasted.

Why I Keep Coming Back to Easy One-Pan Dinners
One-pan dinners are some of my favorites because on a busy night, the last thing I want is a sink full of pots and pans.
This recipe takes that idea one step further because it’s essentially a dump-and-bake dinner. The orzo doesn’t even need to be boiled first.
The Boursin melts into the chicken broth as everything cooks, and once you stir it together, you get this incredibly creamy sauce without making a separate cream sauce on the stove.
What You’ll Love About This Recipe
It’s truly a one-pan meal. Everything cooks right in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
There’s no need to boil the orzo. Add it to the pan dry.
The kielbasa is already cooked. Slice it and add it straight to the dish.
Very little prep is required. Most of the work is simply adding ingredients to the pan.
Boursin makes the sauce. No heavy cream or separate cheese sauce needed.
It’s a complete dinner. Pasta, sausage, tomatoes, and spinach are all in one dish.
The colors are beautiful. This is one of those dinners that looks much more impressive than the amount of work that went into it.

What Is Boursin Cheese?
Boursin is a soft, creamy cheese flavored with herbs and seasonings. For this recipe, I use Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs.
It melts beautifully, which is why it works so well in baked pasta dishes. Instead of making a traditional cream sauce on the stove, the Boursin melts right into the broth and coats the cooked orzo.
Ingredients
- 1 pound orzo, uncooked
- 1 (5.2-ounce) package Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs Cheese
- 1 package Polska kielbasa, sliced
- Cherry tomatoes
- 3 handfuls fresh spinach
- 4 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
- Slap Ya Mama seasoning, to taste
- Garlic powder, to taste

About the Kielbasa
I used Polska kielbasa from Aldi for my Boursin orzo bake. Because kielbasa is already fully cooked, there’s no need to brown or cook it separately before adding it to the baking dish.
You can absolutely change up the sausage if that’s what you have on hand. A fully cooked Italian chicken sausage would be delicious, as would another flavor of smoked sausage.
If substituting raw sausage, cook it completely before adding it to the recipe.
About the Seasonings
The recipe that inspired mine used Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
I simplified the seasonings in my version and used Slap Ya Mama and garlic powder. The Slap Ya Mama brings plenty of Cajun-style flavor, while the kielbasa, Boursin, and chicken broth add even more seasoning to the dish.
Since kielbasa, Boursin, and Slap Ya Mama all contain salt, I recommend seasoning conservatively at first. You can always add more after cooking.
How to Make Boursin Orzo Sausage Bake
1. Prepare the baking dish
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Add the orzo
Pour 1 pound of uncooked orzo into the baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom.
There’s no need to boil or otherwise cook the orzo first.
3. Add the Boursin and remaining ingredients
Place the entire round of Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs Cheese in the center of the baking dish.
Arrange the sliced Polska kielbasa, cherry tomatoes, and spinach around the Boursin.
Season with Slap Ya Mama and garlic powder.
Pour 4 cups of reduced-sodium chicken broth evenly into the baking dish.
4. Cover and bake
Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake at 400°F for about 40 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and has absorbed most of the chicken broth.
5. Stir it all together
Carefully remove the foil.
Stir everything together, breaking up some of the softened tomatoes as you stir.

The warm Boursin will melt into the remaining broth and juices from the tomatoes, creating a creamy sauce that coats the orzo, kielbasa, tomatoes, and spinach.
6. Let it rest
Allow the Boursin orzo to rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
The sauce will continue to thicken as the orzo absorbs the remaining liquid.

Tips & Tricks
- Cover the pan tightly. This is one of the most important parts of the recipe. The orzo needs the liquid and steam trapped inside the baking dish to cook properly.
- Don’t precook the orzo. It goes into the baking dish completely dry.
- You don’t need to brown the kielbasa. Polska kielbasa is already cooked, making this recipe even easier.
- Use reduced-sodium chicken broth. Kielbasa, Boursin, and Slap Ya Mama already bring quite a bit of salt to the dish.
- Don’t panic if it looks a little saucy. When you first stir everything together, the orzo may look looser than you expect. Give it about 5 minutes to rest. It will continue absorbing liquid and become creamier as it sits.
- Check the orzo before serving. If it’s still a little firm after 40 minutes, cover the dish again and cook for another 5–10 minutes. If the pan looks dry, add a small splash of warm chicken broth first.
- Add more spinach at the end. If you love spinach, stir another handful into the hot orzo after baking. The residual heat will wilt it quickly and give the finished dish another pop of green.

My Experience Making This Viral-Inspired Boursin Orzo
I’m always a little skeptical when I see a recipe online that looks too easy. Sometimes the video makes something look like a five-minute job, and then you actually make it and discover all the extra steps they didn’t show you.
That wasn’t the case with this one.
It really was incredibly easy.
Using Polska kielbasa made it even simpler because there was nothing to cook ahead of time. I sliced the kielbasa, added everything to my baking dish, covered it, and let the oven do the work.
I also really liked simplifying the seasonings with Slap Ya Mama and garlic powder. Between those seasonings, the smoky kielbasa, and the Garlic & Fine Herbs Boursin, there was plenty of flavor without needing a long list of ingredients.
Once everything was stirred together, the Boursin made the orzo wonderfully creamy.
This is exactly the kind of one-pan dinner I’ll make again when I want something easy but don’t want it to feel like an easy dinner.
Substitutions & Variations
Chicken sausage: The recipe that inspired mine used Italian chicken sausage, and that’s an easy substitution. Choose a fully cooked chicken sausage, slice it, and use it in place of the kielbasa.
Smoked sausage: Another fully cooked smoked sausage can be substituted 1:1 for the kielbasa.
More vegetables: Mushrooms or another quick-cooking vegetable could be added.
Extra spinach: Stir additional fresh spinach into the dish immediately after it comes out of the oven.
Parmesan: Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan over individual servings if you’d like even more cheesy flavor.
Storage & Reheating
Store leftover Boursin Orzo Sausage Bake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
Keep in mind that orzo continues to absorb liquid as it sits, so your leftovers will be thicker than the freshly made dish.
When reheating, add a splash of chicken broth before microwaving and stir well after heating. This helps loosen the sauce and restore some of its original creaminess.
