Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • To save time cutting up your squash, buy a pre-packaged cut bag.
  • If you want these to be extra crispy you can add a batter, but they will be crispy and flavorful without.
  • All Air Fryers cook differently. Check your squash after about 15 minutes, then continue to cook until done.
  • Be sure to use a little bit of an olive oil spray. This helps lock in the moisture of the butternut squash without drying them out.

Storage

Fridge

These are best enjoyed fresh! If you do have leftovers you want to save, you will want to store your leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.

You can reheat these in the microwave or in the oven on low. When reheating they will become a little mushy and lose the crispiness that they had on day 1.

Are you supposed to peel butternut squash before cooking?

Yes! You definitely want to remove the skin prior to cooking your squash.

The skin is very tough and might be problematic to remove. You can soften it by cutting the top and bottom off the squash and then microwaving it for 3 minutes. This will make it easier to peel.

Does butternut squash go bad?

Yes, it can go bad over time. To ensure it is still good to eat you will want to look at the rind. If it is still firm and the overall color is still the same then it is still good to eat.

Can I use other seasonings and spices?

So other great seasonings and spices to try instead of the cinnamon are:

  • Garlic
  • Oregano
  • Sage
  • Rosemary
  • Black pepper
