Pumpkin Pretzels

pretzel pumpkins

I did not think it was possible BUT I think I am more excited for Halloween this year than ever before.  It is one of my favorite holidays, although I may venture to say every holiday is my favorite holiday.  Halloween gets super exciting since there is a long stretch between Halloween and July 4th.  It is officially not even September yet and I am driving my boys crazy to get my Halloween decorations down from the attic.  My porch will be decorated just after Labor Day ends.  I am that excited!!

Needless to say I have started working on a bunch of Halloween treats to share with you all.  These pumpkin pretzels are adorable!  We can all agree that the combination of sweet and salty is to die for.  These pumpkin pretzels do not disappoint.  They are every bit of delicious as you would expect from sweet chocolate on top of a nice salty pretzel, topped off with a yummy M & M.  Now can you see why I am excited for Halloween!!!

Melting chocolate:

In a microwave-safe container microwave candy melts at 50% power or the defrost setting on your microwave. Melt for one minute to start. Remove and stir. Place back in the microwave for additional 30 seconds at 50% power. Remove and stir. Continue to do this in 30 second intervals until smooth and creamy. Remember less is better. You can help melt some pieces that are still not fully melted by stirring with a spoon. You do not want to over microwave your chocolate.

Candy Corn Bark

One of my all time favorite candies is candy corn.  They are so sweet, delicious and beautiful! I seriously adore the colors.  Just seeing the combination of yellow, orange and white immediately makes me think of candy corn, which makes me think of Halloween, which makes me smile.  This candy corn bark just makes me happy looking at it.  You can not imagine just how delicious it is.  You really need to make this if you love candy corn as much as me.

Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hash Browns are part of my Back to School survival plan

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tyson Foods, Inc. All opinions are entirely my own.

Back to school is such an exciting time of year for me! Summers are always so bitter sweet.  I love having my boys home, I love the no stress of them in school, I love our special time together but this girl is a work at home Mom.  So after a couple of months of precious one on one time with my boys,  beach time, movie time, play time, giggle time.. it is time for these boys to get back to school!

This year my 13 year old will be going to High School!!! I can barely believe it! Talk about bitter sweet.  Sending him off to High School is both exciting and terrifying at the same time.  John is my child that does not fall asleep easily, so getting him up and out of bed in the morning last year was more than a challenge.  This year his bus comes 40 minutes earlier than it did last year.  40 minutes earlier is almost an impossible feat to accomplish.

One place I know I can shave off a ton of time is breakfast!  Yes…this could possibly be my best solution yet. Just as good as Jimmy Dean® making these new Stuffed Hash Browns.  I literally stopped in my tracks when I saw these in the freezer case.

jimmy dean stuffed 2

I had run over to my local Walmart to grab a few more amazing back to school deals and decided to do some food shopping while I was there.  I found myself in the freezer isle and, as I stated before, I literally stopped in my tracks when I saw the Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hash Browns in the freezer case.  These are warm crispy hash browns filled with delicious Jimmy Dean meats & cheese.

This is exactly what I need in my life! My son needs this in his life! Not only do the Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hash Browns provide an affordable, quick and delicious breakfast, it is something that my whole family can enjoy.

The Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hash Browns heat and eat in 2 minutes; no hassle, no mess.  They have a crisping sleeve that ensures a crispy, delicious hash brown with microwave use.  Perfect for our hectic mornings! It truly is a delicious all in one breakfast you can easily eat on the go.

DSC_0775

My son also does better with high protein breakfast to start his school day off right and this fits the bill perfectly.  I could not be more excited by these delicious Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hash Browns.

You really need to try these out yourselves and let me know what you think.  Here is a great coupon to make this an even better value.

S’mores Bark

Who says you need a roaring fire to have S’mores?! This S’mores Bark is so delicious it may become the only way you will eat your S’mores.
s'mores bark
One of my best memories from childhood involves S’mores! I think many of us have great childhood memories involving S’mores.  In my house we love S’mores so much we don’t want to say Goodbye to them once the summer is over.

I created this delicious S’mores bark so that my boys could enjoy S’mores any time of the year.  I love creating bark recipes and working with chocolate.  Chocolate really allows you to create works of art.  Just looking at the swirls of Fluff mixed with the graham crackers, mini marshmallows and Hersey bars is a complete work of art. Well at least in my eyes, hehe.

bug repellent spray

I told you all a little bit ago about my new NATURE’S BOUNTY® EARTHLY ELEMENTS™ Aromatherapy Diffuser and how much relief I am finding while using it to help me fall into a peaceful calm sleep.  With all this great rest, my creative wheels have been spinning.  One of my most popular posts this summer is my Bug Repellent Mason Jar Luminaries.  The combination of oils used is an amazing combination that the mosquitoes just don’t like.  But it does not travel well.

After visiting some friends for an outdoor BBQ and getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes, I decided I needed to come up with something I could stick in my bag and use for bug repellent.  I am deathly afraid of over the counter bug repellent so it was time I came up with my own natural solution.

Each essential oil has its own unique aroma and “personality,” just like people.  Combining them together, they take on a whole other amazing persona.  With a little ingenuity you can come up with so many various combinations of oils, you can find solutions to most anything in your life.

earthly Stimulate-Your-Senses---Diffuser-Blend-Ideas

Here are some other ways essential oils can be used just to help get your wheels spinning as well.

  • Create a moisturizing massage oil for skin when combined with Sweet Almond carrier oil
  • Add directly to a bath to create a spa-like experience
  • Create a refreshing or soothing aroma by adding a few drops to the Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ aromatherapy diffuser
  • Blend multiple oils together to create new scents

I am still so impressed by the easy availability of the Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™, as a loyal shopper at Walmart, I was not too surprised to find out they the full line can be found in the vitamin aisle.  Don’t have a Walmart close by, that’s okay… here is a list and link to all of the products in this line.  First you want to start with the Diffuser, thinking about creating a massage oil (YES!) than you want to get the Almond Skin Care Oil, and now for all the various fragrances ….  LavenderLemongrassGrapefruitJasmineRosemaryPatchouliPeppermintEucalyptus, & Chamomile.  I highly recommend getting every fragrance available as you can see the combinations of blends you can create is endless.

bug repellent spray 2

The oils that work as mosquito kryptonite are:  EucalyptusLavenderPeppermintLemongrass, & Rosemary

You can use any combination of these oils to create your favorite bug repellent bug spray.

Now for my super effective bug repellent blend.

  • 2 ounces distilled or boiled water
  • 1.5 ounces witch hazel
  • 25 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 30 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 15 drops Lemongrass essential oil

Spray onto exposed skin and/or clothing, avoiding eyes.  Reapply every 2 hours, or as needed.  Store in a dark bottle, away from heat or sunlight.

I think there comes a time in every mom’s life where we need to seek help with creating a calm environment, a calm mood, a calm setting, calm, calm, calm.  I have been hearing all the rave reviews about how helpful people are finding essential oils. I decided it was time to test this out myself.

After careful research I decided the best product to try was the NATURE’S BOUNTY® EARTHLY ELEMENTS™ Aromatherapy Diffuser and figured I would test out all of the various oils they offer.  Just like a walk in the woods or a stroll through a field of flowers, essential oils in the home can help set moods and create sensual experiences, from calming to invigorating depending on the scent. Count me in!
Earthy Elements-Fragrance-Chart

With a selection like this who could pick just one?! Definitely not me and I am super excited to try them all.  Each essential oil has its own unique aroma and “personality,” just like people.  I loved the easy availability of the Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™, as a loyal shopper at Walmart, I was not surprised to find out they the full line can be found in the vitamin aisle.

Shopping online?  Here is a list and link to all of the products pictured above.  First you want to start with the Diffuser, thinking about creating a massage oil (YES!) than you want to get the Almond Skin Care Oil, and now for all the various fragrances ….  LavenderLemongrassGrapefruitJasmineRosemaryPatchouliPeppermintEucalyptus, & Chamomile.

I am literally in fragrance heaven and my mind is flooded with ideas.  Such as making an aromatherapy face mask, aromatherapy candles, and or stimulating sugar face scrubs. The possibilities are endless! But for my first real test, I really want to use my diffuser to help calm my mind at night and ease me into a wonderful sleep.

earthly 10

After just having surgery and a pretty difficult recover I really needed a good nights rest. I set up my diffuser and decided on using Chamomile since its calming, nurturing, and soothing.  Three things I am very much in need of.

I made sure I had my diffuser set up early in the day so this way, when I got into bed, all I needed to do was just turn it on.  When I got into bed I had a pretty tough day so I was really putting this Chamomile to the true test.  After turning on my diffuser and starting to breath in the sweet, tangy, delicious scent of the Chamomile, I literally felt a complete calmness over my whole body.  It was undeniable and before I knew it I was in a deep sleep.

Experiment one was a huge success!! Keep an eye out for another super amazing essential oil fun idea, I have in the works, that will be featured soon!

It is this Mom’s favorite time of the year.  Back to school!! With Back to school comes some pretty crazy hectic schedules.  We are all running around trying to get everything done that needs to be done.  The kids are excited and nervous.  I am EXCITED but super busy.  One thing I definitely do not want to slack on is providing my kids with a nutritious lunch.  I always know my boys are getting healthy fuel during their day. In order to accomplish this I know that I need to keep it balanced between healthy, delicious and appealing to my boys pallets. I like to find a perfect balance, which has been made easy, with two of my favorite brands, Nature’s Harvest® Bread and Little Bites™ Snacks.

NaturesHarvestLogo

I can count on Nature’s Harvest® whole grain breads, baked with at least 8 grams of whole grains per serving, and without high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors or colors. I can feel good about their favorite Little Bites™ Snacks, which are perfectly packaged for the lunchbox and made with real ingredients and never any High fructose corn syrup or Trans Fat. Together at back-to-school, they are the “Life of the Lunchbox™!” You too can surprise and delight your children with both nutrition, taste and fun!

I love being able to get both at my local Walmart which also saves me lots of time and money.  When I walked into my Walmart I was greeted by this display.  Which btw,  have you tried the Smores yet?! Delicious!!!!!!!! You may want to put those in your lunchbox! 😉

lil bites walmart display

My biggest issue was deciding which Little Bites snacks to buy and which one of the many delicious Nature’s Harvest Breads to pick.  Having so many choices will keep me keep my kids lunches full of variety so that they will never get bored.

For my balanced lunch above I made these delicious honey wheat chicken alfredo roll ups. The biggest challenge was stopping my husband from eating them all before they made it into the kids lunchboxes.  I added a healthy salad to pair with their roll ups.  Topped it off in their lunchboxes with a bag of Little Bites party cake bites.

  1. Natures Harvest Honey Wheat Bread
  2. Pre Packaged Carved Chicken Breast Meat or Rotisserie Chicken Breast Meat
  3. Jar Alfredo Sauce
  4. Parmesan Cheese
Instructions
  1. Take a slice of bread and put it between two pieces of saran wrap. Flatten with a rolling pin.
  2. Lay chicken meat on top of the flattened bread. You only need to cover about 3/4 of the bread to allow for some rolling room.
  3. Spread alfredo sauce over the top of the chicken meat. (this way it does not touch the bread and make it soggy while waiting for lunch time.)
  4. Sprinkle parmesan cheese over top of alfredo sauce covering most of it with cheese.
  5. Roll and cut into nice sized pieces.
